About Elango

Elango is a contemporary abstract artist based in India, creating highly textured, dimensional acrylic and mixed-media artworks. Rejecting the flat canvas, he builds his sculptural surfaces layer by layer using palette knives, structural compounds, acrylics, and metallic elements like gold leaf to explore the relationship between material, light, and emotion.

His paintings are designed to interact dynamically with the spaces they inhabit. The sculpted paint ridges, layered textures, and metallic accents capture and reflect ambient light, producing evolving highlights, shadows, and tonal variations throughout the day as natural and interior lighting shifts.

Working from private studios in Chennai and Delhi, India, Elango collaborates with collectors, interior designers, and architects to create large-format, custom-designed commissions tailored to private residences, corporate spaces, and luxury interiors. Textured Ground

Before adding any colors, Elango applies modeling pastes, marble dust, and heavy gel bases onto raw heavy-duty canvas. He sculpts these materials with wide knives to establish a layered, textured structure.

Acrylic Layering

Using premium heavy-body acrylic paints, color glazes, and fluid washes, layers of vivid blues, titanium whites, and mineral earth tones are swept over the dry relief structures, sinking into crevices.

Metallic Accents

In the final stage, fine gold, silver, or copper leaf veins are delicately applied to the peaks of the textured ridges. This adds a reflecting layer that changes color intensity based on the angle of incoming light.
